Asano has just returned from the Berlin IFF and the Bangkok IFF.

2006.1.19 Asano received the Best Actor Award at the 60th Mainichi Film Contest for the movie, Tagatameni and Rampo Jigoku.
   
2006.1 Asano will visit Germany to join the Berlin International Film Festival with Pen-ek Ratanaruang, whose upcoming film "INVISIBLE WAVES" is competing.
After the Berlin IFF, Asano will go to Thailand to take part in the Bangkok International Film Festival.

Asano had been on location in China for the shooting of "MONGOL" directed by Sergei Bodrov.

The Birth of Cool -Asano Tadanobu
Japan meets Europe - Teeny-Idol Asano Tadanobu (Last Life in Universe; Zatoichi; Electric Dragon 80.000 Volt), frequently called the Japanese Johnny Depp, is one of the most important and hippest actors in Japan. He has worked with directors like Miike, Kitano and Oshima, whose influence can be seen in Tori, Asano Tadanobu's first work as a director. Tori is an omnibus-film made up of five short films which, according to Asano, are visualisations of his dreams. The film distributor and Japan specialist Stephan Holl (Rapid Eye Movies) will interview this all-rounder creative genius. Asano Tadanobu is also active as a musician, model, artist, poet and calligrapher.

"ICHI THE KILLER" started to show on 22nd January 2002 in Japan. This movie had been already shown in Tronto Film Festival, Vancouver Film Festival, London Film Festival and Stockholm Film Festival . And the Audiences had received a paper bag from the distributor for VOMIT.

2001/12/5 Thai Film Festival invited Asano as a judge. This honor was the first time for him.
He watched movies in some languages with the Japanese text.
